Relevant

I've often heard that God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the church, and the Bible is not relevant to our lives. Of course, I adamently disagree with any such notion. But, I was wondering what is the criteria for something to become relevant to us.
The dictionary says...Connected:having some sensible or logical connection with something else such as a matter being discussed or investigated. Having Social Significance:having some bearing on or importance for real-world issues, present-day events, or the current state of society.
What are your thoughts on the matter....

  1. Uncle Tom, I think the answer has two parts.

God is relevant today because he is still an active being who works in and through the lives of others. He is still in control, whether people want to acknowledge that or not. He is relevant, because without him there would be nothing.

However, being the gracious God he is, he does not force us to be connected with him. He speaks to us, he calls to us, he stands at our door and knocks. But making the connection is up to us. (sometimes I think that is unfortunate, becuase I personally fail miserably in keeping that connection complete all the time!)
